Big Announcements!

By Kelly M 20 Comments Jump to Recipe

Okay, so I have some very important things going on I’d finally like to tell you, so this would be a good time to grab your favorite blanket, make a latte, and make sure you’re cozy. You don’t want to miss this.

Comfy?

Great! You ready?

So first off, I want to thank you for the incredible and beyond responses you left on my giveaway. You have touched my heart in one of the best way possible. Thank you. You are such kind and wonderful people, and you’ll never know how much it means to me that you read this blog, and share your knowledge with me. You make me smile every day. Thank you so much.

Which leads me to my next announcement, I changed the About section (again) on my home page. Why? I love food, and that will still be a main component of this site, but I do not just sit around eating all day. I am a person. I live. I don’t want to write a textbook. If something important is going on in my life, like my mom’s cancer, or my running issues, I would like to talk about them. I also welcome you to do the same here! I want to build a healthy living community, an I don’t just want you to sit and let me talk about myself. I want to hear about you, too! How are you? How is your exercise? How is you eating? How is you life?

Leave a comment! Reply to someone else’s comment! Discuss! I don’t want this to be all about me. I care about you, and I think as we all get to know each other better, we could all be really great friends. This about all of us, as a community, making friends, talking about life, learning, sharing, and our journey on the road to health.

I will continue to post healthy and delicious recipes like cake, donuts, and brownies, but I want to be in better shape too. So with your priceless advice in hand, I have decided to do the Couch Potato to 5K plan. I will blog with my weekly progress, and I would love to hear how your running is going. You are an inspiration for me! And even of you don’t run, do you want to start together?

Okay, for the next announcement, I am officially sponsored by Arctic Zero! This is so exciting for me, especially after my first sponsorship disappointment, and I am such a huge fan of Arctic Zero’s products! Expect more giveaways and product review soon! And if you are as in love with Arctic Zero as I am and want to be sponsored by them, too, keep your eye out for announcements! The Arctic Zero team may be growing soon, so if you are interested, just let me know.

Wait, I’m not done yet! My mom is done with radiation! It was very difficult for her, and she felt is was even worse than chemo, so we are even more grateful it’s over. She has another surgery in June or July, but after that she is going to be in full recovery mode, and we hope to take a long vacation.

AND, I have my eye on a new camera! I found a good price on one, I’ve been saving up, and I think I’m going to do it! Very excited to take my pics to the next level!

OKay, after this I’ll be done. Promise. The winner of the giveaway is…Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile. Congrats, girl!! Just email me at foodiefiasco AT gmail.com with you address and we’ll get that stuff to you ASAP!

If you’ve read this far, heaven bless you, and I hope you have a lovely day!

Enjoy!

-Kelly M.

If you would like to honor me by commenting, please, talk about anything. I know this is sort of a wierd post to comment on because there is SO MUCH, so just say what you like! I’m all ears!

I just found your blog when I commented yesterday - so I'm having fun looking through your recipes. I think it's great you decided to try Couch to 5k. My neighbor and friend got me on it. I still don't call myself a runner but it absolutely jump started my fitness regime and goals and got me through some tough months. Another great tip - find someone to do it with you. It keeps you both accountable, there'll be times one of you needs a push to keep going, and it's just more fun that way! Good luck, YOU can do it!

You are so sweet. Thank you! And I really appreciate you sharing your experience with the couch to 5K plan, and you're so right. Doing it with someone else would be way more encouraging! I am so happy to have you here at the blog, and I look forward to getting to know you better! ;)

Since this post is kind of random and all over the place (not criticizing it, I do it all the time! Sometimes there is just oh so much to say!!) my comment will be too - I'm so jealous of your sponsorship!! That's really exciting!! I rarely get arctic zero because it's so expensive, but on the rare occasion that it happens to be on sale, I snatch it up. I've been eying a rebel too!! But with college on the horizon, buying a fancy camera probably isn't gonna happen for a while :( You should join dailymile!! It's so motivating and fun to comment on everyone's workouts and get comments on your own. Oh and I haven't blogged about it yet, but my last seventeen post was about my tips for beginner runners, so you might want to check that out! Congrats to your mom on finishing radiation! She is an all star, seriously. And you are an all star daughter to be there for her! Monster comment over. Haha.

Haha... I'll send you Arctic Zero, and you send me granola. ;) I love A0, but that stuff costs a small (large) fortune! And thank you for the tip on daily mile! I've seen around, but didn't really know what it was, so thank you for clearing that up! In case I haven't told yuo this enough, but I am so happy for you for writing in 17 magazine! That is HUGE, and it is a testament to your good karma. Can't wait to read your article! And by the way, I love monster comments. ;)

Heh, anything? Ok, my comment is a PSA for people to get their skin checked once a year. I just did today and had a mole the doctor said was probably ok, but wanted to remove just in case to test. I never would have suspected it. So...yah. See a dermatologist. Congrats to you on Arctic Zero! That is most awesome:)

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this comment! Well, first off, I'm sorry about your scare. But you have no idea how happy I am that you told me! This is really the direction I want to take the blog. I want you to feel comfy saying what's going on with you. (Does that sound creepy and stalker-ish?!?) So thank you. ;)

My wordpress blogroll doesn't tell me when you have new posts. UGH. Dislike. That's why I've been MIA from your blog. First of all, congrats on deciding to do a couch to 5k program! It'll be great for you. ALSO (referring to your last post), I thought I wasn't improving at all.. Then I realized that it was actually getting harder for me to run slower, and easier to run faster. Idk if you've tried this, but speeding up just a bit can actually do wonders. I can't wait to see your running journey unfold. :) Congrats on your sponsorship! I would totally be down for joining the team, btw. And last but MOST, CONGRATS ON YOUR MOM BEING DONE! YAAAAAAAAAY! I'm so happy for you and your family! Dancing for you. Seriously. :)

Hey, as long as we have you back! You were missed. ;) And it totally makes sense that running slow is harder than running fast! I went on to research it a bit, and you're right! Huh, so that means I need run faster and work harder... Oh.

I think a community forum would be great! it would be easier and more direct to connect with people via a forum than my just commenting on the blog since it would allow for whole conversations to form!
