Summer is in the house! And do you know what that means?

Fruttare 1It’s wild side time. Oh yeah.

My theme this summer is “Just do it!” Go on that trip. Ask him/her out. Throw that party. Eat that fruit bar. You daredevil, you. You only live once! (Or as I believe them whipper snappers say, #yolo?)

Fruttare 2

Allow me to introduce you to my new friend Fruttare. Fruttare is a wonderful company that makes exceptionally wonderful frozen fruit bars. Available in more than 15 countries around the globe, Fruttare is recognized as a brand synonymous with a positive outlook on life. I personally try my best to stay positive and make the most of every moment, believing that everything happens for the best (even if my mom was on a smoking plane).

Okay, so you know those crystalized moderately gross high fructose corn syrup laden fruit flavored bars on the ice cream truck of your childhood?

Right. Fruttare bars are nothing like those. They’re actually free of high fructose corn syrup (so they’re grain free! yay!), and the fruit bars without milk are vegan friendly. (Fruttare makes fruit with milk bars in addition to plain fruit ones.) Plus, they come in a TON of awesome sauce flavors and the plain fruit ones are only around 60 calories each! Talk about a perfect summer treat.

I am a frozen fruit bar kind of gal, so I knew I would like the mango and the peach with milk flavors I purchased before I even hit the Target checkout line. But once I got inside the wrapper of one of these babies? Whoa.

 Fruttare 3

I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved them! Sweet, creamy, and undeniably refreshing. I was inspired. Because I really want you to give these fruity beauties a whirl, I’m throwing in an extra special recipe for your licking pleasure: Chocolate Covered Fruit Bars.

Picture that creamy refreshing frozen fruit bar (perfect for this ever-lasting heat wave), but with a decadent chocolate coating. Oh, and with all Fruttare’s flavors… Mango? Strawberry? Peach? Coconut? A sweet, luscious banana and milk bar smothered in dark chocolate on a hot summer day?

Fruttare 4

Yup. I think I just died. (Okay, I know they look homey, but I prefer the term rustic. These bars have character!)

It’s okay! I’m okay! I get all my vitamins and minerals and nutrients and fancy pants health stuff and everything (probably from all this fruit I’ve been eating!). Now you can have that recipe.

Here's a tip - corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup is the same thing! And these have corn syrup. I know that once in a while it's fine, but really, you can't promote these bars as "healthy" or "..... free" when it's not :) This is an awesome idea, but you know, as people say - "just sayin' " :)
